What to Do If Management Calls You Into the Office
How can you protect yourself if you get called into the office?
Here are some do’s and don’ts to help you protect your job:
Ask for Your Steward. If management calls you into the office, ask for your steward. It’s your right to have union representation and a witness.
Keep Your Cool. Management may try to intimidate you or put pressure on you. Don’t let them. Keep your cool.
Step Outside with Your Steward. You have a right to ask for a break so that you can talk privately with your steward. If you have a question about your rights or what you should do, call a timeout and talk it over with your steward.
If management gives you a warning letter that you do not deserve, talk to your steward and file a grievance. Do it right away so that you don’t miss any deadline. You can always withdraw your grievance if you change your mind.
